September 23-29 - Sunday to Saturday

Sunday September 23 We really enjoyed attending Music and the Spoken Word this morning.   The spirit was strong.   After the main concert the choir always sings “God Be With You Till We Meet Again” Acapella and it is really touching especially since that song has a soft spot for our family as parents and daughters sung that song together with Kim just before she passed away. On the way to the tabernacle we talked to who we thought was a Mennonite family. They were from Indiana.   They walked with us and we explained what was happening with how the choir broadcast works.   They were really excited to attend. After the concert Sister Tolman noticed two or three families that were taking pictures on Temple Square so she volunteered to take a picture with the whole family.   She is always looking for chances to help others. The Tabernacle (Fare Menemene in Tahitian) Family that Sister Tolman helped We enjoyed church. Both Sacrament meeting and Sunday School themes were

Sunday September 16 We attended Music and the Spoken Word as we have been for the last month or so.   We really enjoy attending.    We sat on the main floor in the middle section and the sound was better and not as intense as last week when we sat in the balcony.   The coincidences continue as after the concert, I talked to the man next to me and he and his wife are here with her parents who will be starting a mission probably on Monday. It turns out the couple is from the Tempe Ward in our stake.   I sent an email to the Tempe Ward Bishop and Elders Quorum President letting them know that we visited them.   Picture from the lower section in the Tabernacle Our church meetings were good.   We attended Sunday School in a smaller classroom that we have been and we enjoyed it.   The following p icture is seen out the window from our classroom. We dropped by Seniors about 6:30pm to take them some peanut butter that we picked up for them.  Last week Sister Tolman picked up

September 17 - Our Monday Devotional Talks

We spoke at the devotional today this morning at 7:30am.   The devotional was held in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in the chapel.  We were first on the program and had reserved seats in the front. Our instructions were to prepare a 3 minute message that helps the other missionaries get to know us.  We timed the messages and they were between 3 and 4 minutes long.    I have attached the program and our messages.   Sister Tolman kept trying to take out the part where she said her maiden name was Senior but ending up leaving that in.   After the meeting one of the older sister missionaries came up to her and asked if she knew Lois Senior which of course she did.   It turns out the she worked with her at the Ensign School.   Her name is Vanja Watkins and she wrote the music for two Hymns   #81 Press Forward Saints and #300 Families Can Be Together Forever. Devotional Program - Sep 17, 2018 Devotional Talk – Sister Tolman given Sep 17, 2018 My name is Lynne Senior T

Sunday September 9 Today is President Russell M Nelson’s 94 th birthday.   I know that he is the Lord’s chosen prophet today. I sustain him in his calling to lead the church today.   I am really looking forward to the upcoming General Conference in October. This morning we attended “Music and the Spoken Word” in the Tabernacle instead of the Conference Center.   The music and singing is much more intense as the building is smaller and the acoustics are amazing.   When we sat down, Sister Tolman indicated that we needed to change places.   The couple next to us only spoke French.   I was able to talk to them a little. We all agreed that the event today was “magnifique”.   Our meetings were excellent today.   I took an hour nap before church and managed to stay awake during Sacrament meeting.   President Fenn sustained a new Branch President today and he shared a powerful testimony of the restored gospel.   I really enjoy listening to President Fenn.   We are so blessed to
