December 23-29 - Sunday to Saturday

Here is a picture taken on Wednesday morning December 26.  We missed snow for Christmas by one day. Sunday Dec 23 We very much enjoyed Music and the Spoken Word.   The music was of course all Christmas themed. We enjoyed hearing the Choir, the Orchestra, and the Bells.  Notice the interesting background Music and the Spoken Word Program President and Sister Fenn spoke in Sacrament meeting which was a combined meeting for both of our two branches.   I thought that maybe I would be able to sit with Sister Tolman but President Fenn wanted all members of the mission presidency and branch presidencies to sit on the stand.   Their messages were inspiring.   I always enjoy listening to President Fenn as he has such a knowledge of the gospel and a powerful testimony.    Following the Sacrament meeting, the sisters in both branches had prepared Christmas stockings to give to the Young Elders.  You can see below the stockings around the Christmas tree  We picke

Sunday Dec 16 We attended Music and the Spoken Word.   The conference center was about half full which is way more in attendance than on other Sundays in December.   I am sure it is because the choir sang songs from the Christmas concert and also that Kristin Chenoweth would be there and sing.   The program was inspiring.    The conference center was decorated beautifully.   Here are a few pictures. Kristin Chenoweth accepting a gift after the broadcast Sister Tolman had planned to prepare home-made lasagna for our monthly dinner for our floor but since the dinner was cancelled we took dinner over to mom and dad Senior.   We enjoyed dinner together and then watched one of the new Hallmark Christmas movies. Monday Dec 17 The weekly mission devotional was really good and was a Christmas theme with music and narration and lasted about an hour.   We also said goodbye to a number of full-time missionaries who are returning home this month. We met Sister Tolman

Here is a picture on the second floor in the Family History Library. Sunday Dec 9 We attended Music and the Spoken Word. The Conference Center was all decorated in preparation for the special Choir and Orchestra annual Christmas program this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.   Notice the various decorations with wrapped presents and trees and a bow over the organ pipes. My sister Glenna and her daughter Lori got tickets for the Friday night concert so we reserved parking for them so they will be able to easily walk to the Conference Center.   Our zone provided the speakers for Sacrament meeting today and next week. Sister Tolman and I will be the speakers in our Sacrament meeting on December 30.   We had four missionaries over for dinner.   Sister Tolman fixed sliced veggies, pulled-pork sandwiches, and macaroni salad along with potato chips.   The young Elders ate two sandwiches a piece and one ate three.   They didn’t have anywhere to go tonight so they stayed a litt

We have taken some beautiful pictures of the lights on Temple Square.  Here are several taken on Monday morning Dec 3 Sunday Dec 2 We woke up this morning with a blanket of snow on the ground.   It is beautiful outside.   It continued to snow all day.   Fortunately we didn’t have too far to walk as Music and the Spoken Word is in the Conference Center for the month of December.  It is just across the street from our apartment.  There was still snow on the sidewalk when we left at about 8:30 am.   The choir and orchestra in the Conference Center Sister Tolman called her mother to wish her a happy birthday as today is her ninety-first birthday. By the time we walked to church the sidewalks were mostly clear but we left early to give us plenty of time to get to church without having to rush.   At the beginning of Sunday School everyone wanted to look out the window at the snow so they closed the blinds until after the lesson.   You can see the picture below
