Sunday Nov 3 We attended Music and the Spoken Word.   We sat close to the front which we haven’t done before.   We got a different perspective and sound being closer to the front of the tabernacle.  We talked to a couple who sat by us and who are just starting their mission and will be introduced at the Monday morning devotional.   We talked to them after the Monday devotional and also saw and talked to them at least one more time during the week. Of course we attended our meetings from 1 to 3pm. Before the meeting, I talked briefly with Mary Anne and Marlowe Ashton.   Mary Anne mentioned that a man who walked by us after the meeting is over 100 years old and then Marlowe mentioned that he was my second mission president’s (Ralph J Richards) brother-in-law.   I introduced myself and we visited for a few minutes.   Here is a  picture of President Richards and his family taken in 1969. Sunday Oct 27 We attended Music and the Spoken Word in the morning and our Sunday meetings in the afternoon.  Sister Tolman led the music as the regular chorister was ill.  Our opening and closing songs were long ones so she had us sing an intermediate hymn that was only one verse "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God".  This song went very well with our lessons for Priesthood and Relief Society which was based on the April 2019 General Confernenc address by Elder Rasband titled "Build a Fortress of Spirituality and Protection ".  It snowed this morning and off and on until after church.   Here are two  pictures taken by Sister Tolman.  It stayed cold all week and wherever the sun didn't hit, there was snow.  When we visited the Seniors on Thursday night there were still patches of snow in the front yard where the sun didn't reach. We attended our Fifth floor social from 5 to 6pm.  We o nly have one more social and that will be in Nov...

Sunday Oct 20 Here is a picture taken a couple of weeks ago with the leaves changing right by the entrance to the Salt Lake City Temple. We attended Music and the Spoken Word as we always do on Sunday morning. We spent the morning reviewing our talks for Sacrament meeting.     Our subject was President Oaks talk from April 2019 General Conference titled “Where Will This Lead”.   He talked about the importance of considering the consequences of our decisions.   The Sacrament Meeting went well and we received lots of compliments about our messages.   Before the meeting started Elder Randy Funk of the Seventy came to our meeting.   He requested the we give him a few minutes to speak at the end of the meeting.   Sister Tolman and I and the other speaker reduced the length of our talks to give him time at the end.   It was and excellent meeting.   You can read our talks on a separate blog entry right after this one titled “October 20 ...
