July 30 - First Day at the Provo MTC
Started our full-time mission at the Provo MTC this morning
arriving at just after 10am. We were
welcomed and settled into our apartment.
We had our pictures taken just before and just after receiving our
missionary badges.
These identify us a missionaries and is signed by President Nelson
These are our access cards that we used to get into the various buildings, get into the cafeteria and also use the elevator to our apartment on the 3rd floor.
Below the access cards are our missionary badges
This morning was brief orientation. We met several missionaries who are going to
our same mission. Lunch was crazy due to
all the missionaries. We will get used to how best navigate the cafeteria. After lunch we continued orientation with a welcome
from the MTC Mission Presidency. I felt
the spirit of our call as I listened to what they shared.
We then were organized into districts and I
was identified as one of the five district leaders and am responsible for
keeping track of eight senior missionaries (3 couples and two sisters). We had a group meeting where we discussed the
missionary purpose. We discussed the
Doctrine of Christ. Took a picture of the diagram.
Was given the assignment to lead the Family Home Evening for
the Senior Missionaries who started today.
We watched a presentation that Elder David A Bednar gave at the MTC on
Christmas Day 2011. It was excellent
and encouraged us to be truly converted and become more like Him and look
outward to help others instead of looking inward when we have challenges in our
lives. What is important is to become
converted and not just have a testimony.
We need to exhibit the character of Christ in our lives and act as He
would.
We took a walk in the evening and took some pictures of
murals in several of the buildings
