August 2 - 4th Day at the MTC


We got up early for breakfast.  I have been eating granola cereal and juice for the last several days.  New missionaries came yesterday so the cafeteria was really busy.  Here are some pictures.




We have learned a lot about the LDS Library App.  I thought I knew most things about using it but learned a lot about different ways to create helps such as highlights, marking, notebooks, etc.  It was very helpful.

The experience here at the MTC has been exceptional.  We have learned a lot, been inspired, and met some wonderful people.  Our relationship with several of the missionaries will continue as they will be with us during the upcoming two weeks of training starting on August 6.

Sister Tolman's talk During the Christmas holiday’s I read a short book titled The Miracle Maker and it got me to thinking.  What are the miracles in our lives and who is the miracle maker that makes them happen.   I then started thinking about what we will be studying next year and the combination of the two brought this talk into being. The book is about a sad and lonely little village where everything is dreary because everyone is dreary.  They hear a great man is coming and he will bring a great miracle to the town.  An old run down man walks into town carrying a chicken and everyone knows it can’t be him.  He rents an old run down house and starts to clean it up.  He takes a stone to the stonecutter and sells it to buy flour for bread and meal for his chicken and some seeds to plant.  He plants the seeds and feeds himself and his chicken.  This routine continues every day and the house starts to look better as the seeds sprout and the...

March 15, 2020 - Mission Documents

Here is the missionary plaque that we received from our ward. Lynne put together an amazing picture book of 106 pages documenting many of the amazing experiences that we had on our mission.  You can access the book at this link Included below are various letters and documents related to our call and release.  Also included is the certificate earned by Lynne Tolman for completing the US / Canada Training Here are our call letters signed by President Nelson.  Here is our release letter and release certificates signed by our mission president Jerry D. Fenn. Here is the US / Canada Training completion certificate for Lynne.  She also completed the British training.  She received pins for both of these accomplishments. The last two documents are release certificates given to us by our zone leaders in the US / Canada Zone signed by our Zone Leaders and Assistant Zone Leaders

September 29 - October 5 - Sunday to Saturday

Here is a picture of Elder Tolman with Teave Temahuki, a missionary companion while serving on Huahine, French Polynesia.  Teave is visiting from Tahiti with his wife and staying with their daughter who lives in Saratoga Springs.  Teave is also 72 and they have eight children.  We visited his family during our vacation to Tahiti in 1998.  I saw him on Thursday night. Sunday Sep 29 We attended Music and the Spoken Word.   It was Fast Sunday.   During our Fast and Testimony meeting Elder Olsen who conducted the meeting and Sister Robinson our Zone Leader were the only senior missionaries who bore testimonies.   The rest were Young Elders.   I needed to identify a person to be a Sunday School Teacher and prayed to be able to identify someone during the meeting who could serve.
