August 3 - Last Day at the MTC

Today was our last day at the MTC.  We started packing first thing in the morning and then had breakfast at 7am. Our classes started at 8am.

We had a picture taken with our District of Eight Missionaries and Teachers.  One of the young missionaries is missing.

We had training for an hour or so to prepare us for the opportunity to meet with someone for about and hour and use what we have learned this week to help them.  We ended up meeting with two seniors at BYU who have been dating for about three months.  We shared with them our experience when Lynne and I dated during my senior year.  Both have a general career plan but no firm details.  We let them know that things can work out for them with the right attitude.  We encouraged them and invited them to have daily devotionals to start their days out right.  We also encouraged them to find out all they can from their living grandparents and also find stories from FamilyTree about their deceased ancestors.

We left the MTC at about 12:30pm and traveled to Salt Lake.  We stopped on the way to pick up our CenturyLink router and Lynne purchased two pillows from a Marshall’s store in the same complex.

We arrived in Salt Lake City and met with the housing people at a church near our apartment.  We signed the lease and then learned about the apartments.  We got our keys and our parking sticker.
We also received out new missionary badges.

We had help from some young missionaries to load what we had taken to the MTC and what we had left in the car trunk into our apartment. We then went to see the Seniors where we had left some of what we had brought with us.  We stopped and did food shopping on the way home.  When we got to the apartment someone had parked in our assigned parking place.  We called and that should be resolved by Monday.  Meanwhile we are parking in an unassigned space.   I managed to install and set up the century link router. It took a few steps and I actually read the directions to complete the installation.  Lynne fixed dinner and we worked on unpacking which is not yet completed.

Here is the view from our balcony facing West.
